IFHN was founded in London at the international headache congress EHMTIC in 2012 and the aims for the Forum are to promote and demonstrate progress and moreover discuss clinical experiences and daily challenges. Further, the Forum is to encourage nurses into the field of headache research and present results by nurses engaged in research.

Every second year the IFHN annual meeting is linked to the international congresses arranged by European Headache Federation (EHF) and International Headache Society (IHS) and was present in London 2012 and Copenhagen 2014 and finally Glasgow 2016.

The IFHN program at congresses includes presentations of topics related to nurses’ work and research in the headache field and includes multi-disciplinary topics to make awareness of nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues. The forum has had a variety of topics at the congresses and has been well attended by both nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Every other year the Forum meets locally in special Headache Centers, latest in Leiden 2019. The local meetings open for more detailed discussions and sharing experiences and thereby becoming inspired to the daily work with headache patients.

Being a member of IFHN is free of charge. The member carries out own expenses in connection with headache conferences and local IFHN meetings.
